Brief facts. As well as various passenger ships, including historical ones, and motor ships of the type "Moskva", the most part of the recreation fleet of Prague consists of the similar ships, german serial built. For the operation on rivers with low bridges the ships are equipped with lifting wheel-house and removable tent on the upper deck. As a rule, the saloon on the lower deck is used as a bar or a restaurant. The ships of this type were built in the very big series since 1973 till early 90's. German designation: BiFa Typ III, Binnenfahrgastschiff - river passenger ship of the type III. Three modifications exist, which differ from each other in the hull length and, as a result, the passenger capacity. Becides Czech Republic, such ships are widely used in the eastern and the northern areas of Germany on Elbe, Spree, Oder rivers and the other waterways. The most ships in Prague belong to PPS (Pražská paroplavební společnost), EVD (Evropská vodní doprava), some others belong to the smaller private companies.
